4.2 Editing Nodes

Adding Nodes

After a node connects to the 5700 VFA, it is added to the 5700 VFA database. The

5700 VFA may automatically accept the registration attempt, require manual

registration by the administrator, or reject the attempt.

Granting Login Permission

To receive login requests, the 5700 VFA may be in Open Mode for certain types of

nodes, and/or in Closed Mode for all other nodes.

For nodes registering in Closed Mode (gateways cannot be registered

automatically), a Login Request entry appears on the system tree in the Main View.

Open Mode For VCON or Mitel Networks end points allows

automatic login to all VCON or Mitel Networks end

points that register with the 5700 VFA,

(5750 Desktop Video Appliance, 5760 VC, Escort,

Cruiser 150/384,MediaConnect 6000/8000,

VCON Conference Bridge).

For non-Mitel Networks end points allows automatic

videoconferencing end point that registers.

For MCUs allows automatic login to any MCU that

registers.

For Neighboring Gatekeepers (Zones) allows the

5700 VFA to list any neighboring zones management

device (5700 VFA or gatekeeper) that contacts it (see

Chapter 9, “Neighboring Zones.”).

Closed Mode The administrator can manually grant login permission

to nodes or reject them by ignoring their requests.
